Earlier this month, the California Elite Wrestling Camp was offered at Oakdale High School. The four-day camp was for wrestlers ranging in age from seven to 18-years-old. Serving as directors were coaches from both Menlo College and Cal Baptist university.

On hand to assist with operating the camp were notable amateur wrestlers Jaydin Eerman, Willie Miklus, Joey Martinez, Eric Morrill, Michael Torres and Ceasar Garza. These mentors worked with the young grapplers not just on technical skills but also focused on training, discipline, endurance and motivation.

Meanwhile, a pair of Oakdale wrestlers recently placed at the California Kids Freestyle State Championships. Vinny Abania placed third in his weight class and Max Durrer placed fifth overall in his weight class. The event was hosted in Fresno’s Selland Arena. Earlier in the spring Abania placed first overall at the USA Greco.
