It was a busy week for many Oakdale sports teams, as preseason action and the first stages of Valley Oak League play continues for fall sports. Here is a wrap of some recent contests.

Water Polo

Oakdale’s varsity girls suffered a 14-2 water polo loss at home to Lincoln of Stockton on Thursday evening, Aug. 29. It was a non-conference contest in which the visiting Trojans outscored Oakdale 11-0 between the second and fourth periods. It was the only contest of the week for the girls. The JV boys and varsity boys were also in action against Lincoln but lost as well. For the JV boys, the final was 14-4 and the varsity boys were defeated by the Trojans in a 14-7 contest.

Oakdale will be on the road this week, scheduled to travel to Turlock to face off against Pitman.

Flag Football

Still struggling to find some consistency, Oakdale’s flag football varsity girls lost a pair of non-conference games. They were shut out in both, with a 24-0 loss to Downey and a 33-0 loss to Kimball. Both games were on the road. Oakdale returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at home against Manteca.

Cross Country

With the holiday weekend, cross country was off this past week. They return to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Ceres.

Girls Tennis

Tennis completed their scrimmage action and were scheduled to begin the non-conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Los Banos. They will take on Kimball on the road on Thursday, Sept. 5. Oakdale does not have a home contest until late September.

Golf Girls

The Lady Mustang golfers came away with 226-284 road win over Manteca in a Valley Oak League contest. Xcarlet Duque led the team with a 42 on the day. Both Hannah Herschbach and Bella Cortez shot 45. Brynlee McBride finished with a 46. Reagan Shatswell turned in a 48-stroke effort. Rounding out the day for Oakdale was Analise Velazquez at 52.
