Varsity Volleyball Takes 3-0 Loss Against Central Catholic

The varsity Lady Raiders came in to the Oakdale gym and swept their way past the host Lady Mustangs in Valley Oak League volleyball action on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Scores were 21-25, 13-25, 20-25.

Leading Oakdale were Emma Harper with 13 assists, 11 digs and eight kills, while Breelie Gibson added eight assists and three aces. Bella Cormack had two blocks on the night with Kailee Whorton adding 11 digs.

Action earlier in the week, Oct. 15, saw an Oakdale sweep of Weston Ranch with the Lady Mustangs prevailing 25-13, 25-16, 25-10.

Leading the team in aces were Tayler Lamb and Breelie Gibson with five each, Emma Harper and Kiki Costa with three, while Lamb also had 10 kills, Kenadie Patterson and Abby Cogburn each had seven and Harper had six.

Assists leaders were Harper with 17 and Gibson with nine; Patterson had seven blocks; Whorton added 13 digs, Harper 11, Costa nine and Lamb eight.

 

JV

Hosting Central Catholic, the JV Lady Mustangs prevailed in a hard fought match, 2-1. Scores were 26-24, 23-25, 15-8.

Against Weston Ranch, it was a 2-0 sweep for Oakdale, winning 25-15 and 25-20 against their Valley Oak League opponent.

 

Freshmen

Starting off the night on a winning note, the youngest Lady Mustangs defeated Central Catholic 25-22 and 25-22.

That capped a twin win week for the girls, as they had earlier shut down Weston Ranch, 25-20, 25-19.
