Competing at the Clovis West Golden Eagle Invitational in Fresno’s Woodward Park on Friday, Sept. 27, it was another successful outing for the cross country Mustangs.
The varsity boys earned second place honors at the event.
Individual results for the boys saw sophomore Simon Appel finishing third overall in 17:19 on the 5k Woodward course. Close behind was freshman Caleb Cavanaugh, sixth overall in 17:31 and junior Dominic Robles ran the course in 18:27, finishing 23rd overall.
The varsity girls also had two top 10 overall finishers. Haleigh Humble led the way, third overall in 20:08 and Hannah Beth Norman was eighth overall in 20:56. Both are sophomores.
Freshman Kassidy Fmura ran strong as well, taking 27th place overall in 22:09 for the 5k race.
“The Mustangs had a great day. The varsity boys took on a very tough field team wise and finishing in second is amazing,” said head coach Guy Fowler. “Haleigh Humble and Simon Appel continue their outstanding running and leading the team and I think it is making the team as whole better.”
Next race will be Frogtown on Saturday, Oct. 5.
