Week one of the 2023 CenCal season is upon us and for the Oakdale Stampede youth football teams, they open up on the road. Oakdale will travel to Pacheco on Saturday, Aug. 19 to take on the Wildcats. Rookies begin play at 1 p.m. with Pee Wee at 3 p.m., Junior Varsity at 5 p.m. and Varsity closes out the day at 7 p.m.
This past Saturday the teams traveled to Atwater for the annual Round Robin. That day the boys from all levels participated in mini scrimmages against the Turlock Bulldogs, Buhach Colony Thunder, Turlock Pride and Pacheco Wildcats.
Oakdale will be on the road again next Saturday, Aug. 26 but then make their home debut on Saturday, Sept. 2 against the Wolves of Livingston at Oakdale High School. The regular season is 10 weeks with postseason play scheduled to begin on Nov. 4, Championship weekend is Nov. 11 and Super Bowl will be held on Nov. 18 at Los Banos.
Oakdale Stampede cheerleaders will be showcased in the annual Oakdale High School Mini Mustangs game. This game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8 when Oakdale welcomes Sheldon to town. The Stampede cheer squads will be entertaining throughout both the junior varsity and varsity games.
