Racing at the Stockton 99 Speedway resumed on Saturday afternoon, June 20.
It was only the second event of the season at the historic quarter-mile oval after county officials shut down the track due to COVID-19 concerns following a program on Saturday, June 6.
Both events were held without grandstand ticket sales to fans.
Approximately 50 cars were on hand last Saturday, representing four classes, to compete in the main event only program.
Sam Solari, the 2018 track champion out of Escalon, won the Stockton Late Model feature beating Manteca’s Eric Nascimento Jr. and Lodi’s Arron Shankel to the checkered flag. Also, Mikala Stearns, of Linden, drove to victory in the Bomber race and Manteca pilot Joe Flowers took the win in the 20-car B-4 event.
At this time track officials are continuing to move ahead with plans to open the track to the public for the next event on the schedule, the Saturday, July 4 Ron Strmiska Firecracker race, presented by JM Environmental, which will feature the Wild West Shootout SPEARS Southwest Tour Series “Shoot to Thrill 127” along with the Stockton Late Models, Bombers and B-4 Cylinders.
