A great way to prep for the season began with a few scrimmages for the Oakdale High School Mustang fall sports teams. Volleyball, golf and tennis all participated in scrimmages earlier this month. Water polo will be taking part in a scrimmage this weekend.

Volleyball – already with a scrimmage under its belt with Ripon – also is busy this week. Already, on Monday evening, Aug. 26 the girls were scheduled to travel to take on Big Valley Christian. On Tuesday, Aug. 27 the girls hosted Enochs. Both non-conference contests took place following The Leader’s press time.

Girls golf participated in the Yellowjacket Invite in Turlock on Monday, Aug. 26. They open Valley Oak League play on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Manteca Park. This will be nine-hole action.

Girls flag football opened up their inaugural season on the road in Turlock last week where they came up on the short end of a 38-7 loss in the Foundation Game. This was a Division IV team, Oakdale, taking on a Division I team, Turlock, in non-conference action. Oakdale’s lone touchdown – which also happened to be the first in school history – came on an interception return by Leila Muller.

Oakdale opens up Valley Oak League play for its first-ever flag football regular season on Sept. 10 against Manteca.
