Dozens of runners stepped up to the starting line early Saturday morning, Feb. 4 in Oakdale, taking part in the annual Don Osborne Memorial Run hosted by the Oakdale Lions Club.
First race to take off was the one-mile, starting at 9 a.m.
Following the completion of that event, the 5k was offered, with many that ran the mile coming back to also take part in the longer route.
A double winner on the day was Oakdale High School junior Mason Oliveira,16, a standout cross country runner for the Mustangs. He won the one-mile in 5:14 and also finished first among all competitors in the 5k, turning in a time of 17:30.
First female finisher in the one mile was Becky Lee, third overall in 6:19; first in the 5k in the female division was Nancy Eubanks, running the route in 20:11.
Taking top honors by age division in the one mile were:
Male: 5 and under Jameson Padilla; 6-9 Jude Padilla; 10 to 12 Josiai Marquez; 13 to 15 Parker Whitemyer; 16 to 19 Mason Oliveira; 30 to 39 Dave Schmidt; 40 to 49 Bryan Whitemyer; 50 to 59 Mike Boyer; 60 to 69 David Alltop; 70 to 79 Bob Tennent; 80 and over Larry Lusk.
Female: 5 and under Kelly Torres; 6 to 9 Carsyn Lopez; 10 to 12 Sofia Torres; 16 to 19 Angelica Elizondo; 20 to 29 Kylie Deatley; 30 to 39 Becky Lee; 40 to 49 Kinda Whitemyer; 50 to 59 Kim Clark; 60 to 69 Paula Michaels; 70 to 79 Irene Cattanach; 80 and over Audrey Oliver.
Age group winners in the 5k were:
Male: 12 and under Zander Hernandez; 13 to 19 Mason Oliveira; 30 to 39 Shane Manley; 40 to 49 Talmage Allen; 60 to 6 Raymond Rodriguez; 70 to 79, Louie Phillips.
In the female division for the 5k, first place finishers were: 13 to 19, Eri Kakuno; 30 to 39 Becky Lee; 40 to 49 Nancy Eubanks; 50 to 59 Dalila Rodriguez; 60 to 69 Laurie Lusk; 70 to 79 Donna Urban.
