The annual Dublin Distance Fiesta was hosted at Dublin High School Sports Complex over the weekend. Here is a quick glance at how the Mustang runners placed against the large field.
For the girls 3200 meter race (with 197 total runners) Oakdale had a trio of runners place in the top 100. Bradie Evans, a sophomore, placed 38th overall at 11:38.49. This would be the fourth fastest in Oakdale history. Junior Aubri Scott placed 94th overall at 12:33.09. Placing 98th overall was junior Ava Calandro at 12:38.18.
History was made for a few Oakdale runners in the boys division. In the 1600 meter race, junior Ismael Dominguez placed 13th overall at 4:20.54. His time would give him an Oakdale High School record. In the 3200 meter race, with 466 competitors, senior Omar Alsaidi finished third overall with a time of 9:06.39; also a new school record. Jackson Oliveira placed 18th overall with a time of 9:19.24, fourth fastest in school history. Cracking the top 25 was senior Mason Oliveira at 9:26.16. Sophomore Parker Whitemyer placed 90th at 9:47.77. Quinn Baca, a freshman, placed 245th overall at 10:28.42 and junior Troy Peterson placed 250th overall at 10:31.16.
This Friday, the County Clash takes place at Oakdale High School with a 2 p.m. start time. Field events are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
