Busy over the past couple of weeks, the Oakdale High School girls golf program played in two matches, winning them both.

On Thursday, Aug. 31 the girls hosted Hughson in a nine-hole contest. Oakdale won the non-league match 293-320. Leading the way for Oakdale was sophomore Sam Oliveria (50). Competing in their first matches were sophomore Analiese Velasquez (57) and junior Jenna O’Neil (59). Capping off the afternoon for the Mustangs were junior Jillian Rose (63), senior Paige Wilson (64) and Bryanna Perez-Ramirez (66).

“The girls did an outstanding job of moving around the course and overcoming the anxiety and nerves that come with participating in your first match,” said head coach Jeremy Fields. “We are very happy for the girls to get match experience and a feel for match competition. It helps identify areas of improvement and builds the program.”

On Tuesday, Sept. 5 the girls competed in their first Valley Oak League contest of the season. They hosted Manteca in 18-hole action. Oakdale defeated Manteca 230-313. Hanna Herschbach shot four over par 40 to lead Oakdale. Regan Shatswell shot 42, Xcaret Duque and Aubrey Thompson shot 47 each. Oliveria turned in a scorecard of 54 and rounding out the day for Oakdale was Madison Bohannon with a 59.
