The Buhach Thunder showed up to the Corral ready to play and pulled out a couple of victories over the Oakdale Stampede organization, but the Pee Wee level fought off the clean sweep with a 13-12 win over the visitors.

Oakdale got things going in a hurry in the win as Zach Thomas took the opening kickoff to the house for a lightning quick 6-0 lead for the Stampede.

Buhach would not go easily, blasting back with two first half touchdowns of their own to walk into the halftime intermission with a 12-6 lead. Oakdale found its reserve tank in the second half when Logan Hall raced 55-yards for the touchdown, knotting things up at 12-12.

The Stampede needed the PAT attempt for the lead and they got it when Hall scored on a fly sweep for the conversion, putting the Stampede up for good in their second win of the young season.

“It was great to come back in the second half,” head coach Derek Lasiter said. “We dedicated the game to one of our injured players, Tommy Torres, who’s out for the year with a separated ACL.”

The JV and the varsity both had tough tests, dropping their action against the Thunder 42-0 and 8-0, respectively.

The squad will look to get back on the right page when they do battle with the Merced Cougars on Sept. 19 in Merced.
