Week Three of the regular season will see Oakdale (4-1, 2-0) host Manteca (4-1, 1-1) Friday night, Oct. 6 at The Corral. Both teams are coming off big wins, with Oakdale knocking off Weston Ranch 59-18 and Manteca taking care of Lathrop 50-0.
This will be the first major challenge for Oakdale in Valley Oak League play this year, and the varsity Mustangs will need their defense to step up like they did last week against Weston Ranch. Oakdale’s defense forced several turnovers and pressured the Cougars at the line of scrimmage.
Last season Manteca defeated Oakdale 30-22 in Manteca, but Oakdale went on to win seven straight games after that loss, including the 2016 CIF State Football Championship Bowl game. Manteca’s lone loss this season came to Central Catholic in the Valley Oak League opener 31-14 at home.
Oakdale has outscored opponents 101-24 in the first two weeks of the regular season and Manteca has outscored their opposition 64-31.
Kickoff for this Valley Oak League showdown is scheduled for 7 p.m.
