The Oakdale High School varsity girls basketball team earned twin wins this past week. The games included an overtime thriller over Ripon on Tuesday night, Dec. 10 and a lopsided win against Fairfield on Thursday, Dec. 12.
Alicia Platt paced the team with 26 points against Ripon in the dramatic 63-61 overtime win. She connected on four three-point field goals and made 14-of-17 free throws. Platt also had nine rebounds and dished out three assists. Afton Dailey and Halena Hill each added 10 points.
Against Fairfield, Haylee Campbell scored a game high 17 points and pulled down five rebounds. Hill contributed with 11 points. As a team, Oakdale had nine different players score in the 68-37 victory.
On Monday, Dec. 16 the girls traveled for a non-conference game at Downey High School following The Leader’s press time. Their next game will be home against Gregori on Saturday night, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. The girls open the Valley Oak League season on Thursday, Jan. 2 in a home game against East Union.
The junior varsity girls suffered a 46-34 road loss to Ripon. Monday night the girls took on Downey and will be taking on Gregori in a 4:30 p.m. contest on Saturday. For the freshmen, the team celebrated a 26-21 road win over Bret Harte on Thursday, Dec. 12. The game was tied at 10 after the first quarter. Oakdale went on a 16-11 run to end the game. The frosh girls will host Gregori on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
