Valley Oak League Tournament number two is in the books and make it two in a row for the Oakdale Lady Mustangs. The varsity golf girls have taken first place in each of the first two league tourneys and this past week, got to play on their home course.
“All six of our players finished in the top 10 on the day,” said coach Lee McGhee. “Solid rounds from Kaylie Parola and Hannah Herschbach set the tone for the rest of the league, finishing one and two in the tournament.”
Janelle Velazquez carded one of her best rounds as a Mustang golfer, finishing fourth overall. Finishing with a 93 and number six overall was Xcaret Duque.
“Xcaret said that hitting her drives well helped her to have a good score,” noted McGhee. “It was nice to have a home match for our team and we look forward to building on this as we prepare for the rest of the season.”
