Oakdale’s golf girls completed an undefeated season in the Valley Oak League, 5-0, 3-0 in tournaments including VOL Championships.

The VOL 2022 Standings (with scores from VOL Championships at Swenson Park Golf Course par 74) showed Oakdale taking the top spot with 29 points and a team score of 453. They were followed by: Kimball, second place, 23 points, 522 score; East Union, third, 20 points, 552; Sierra, fourth, 12 points, 631; Manteca, fifth, eight points, 658; and Central Catholic, sixth, seven points, 653 score.

Named as the league MVP was Oakdale’s Kaylie Parola.

“Outstanding play throughout the season. She shot 78 at the VOL championships,” said head coach Lee McGhee.

Other All League selections for Oakdale were Hannah Herschbach, Xcaret Duque and Janelle Velazquez.

“The Division III CIFSJS Playoff Tournament was held at Micke Grove Golf Course par 72 on Tuesday, Oct. 25,” McGhee explained. “Five Leagues were represented with 102 golfers slated to play in the tournament. Valley Oak League, Monticello Empire League, Valley Foothill League, Central California Conference, Capital Athletic League.”

Oakdale did not advance as a team and did not qualify anyone individually, the coach said.

“Our best score on the day was sophomore Hannah Herschbach with a strong showing in the playoffs scoring 78 and she finished tied for 13th overall,” McGhee said.

Other Lady Mustang scores and places were: Kaylie Parola 84 (20th), Reagan Shatswell 90 (25th), Aubrey Thompson 93(t-28th), Xcaret Duque 105 (t-51st), Janelle Velazquez 111(t-66th).

“We finished fifth in the division out of 12 teams. The top two teams advance and then the six lowest individual scores not on those teams.”
