Taking the court four times in four days was the task that faced the Oakdale High School varsity volleyball team this past week. The girls began their week at Turlock for the Foundation Game and ended it Thursday night against Sonora.
On Monday, Aug. 26 the girls traveled to Turlock High School for the annual Foundation Game and were swept by the Bulldogs in three sets, 25-20, 25-16, 25-23. In the contest Kailee Whorton had three aces, Emma Harper and Abby Cogburn each had eight kills. Harper and Whorton each had 10 digs. Breelie Gibson had 11 assists and Kenadie Patterson had three blocks.
The following night Oakdale hosted Enochs where they defeated the visitors in three sets 25-16, 25-22, 25-21. Gibson had five aces, Cogburn finished with 13 kills, Harper added 15 assists, Patterson had six blocks and Whorton finished with 13 digs.
Wednesday night the girls hosted Hughson. Oakdale won in three sets 25-7, 25-5, 25-9. The next night they defeated Sonora in four sets. The girls won the first set 25-17 but lost set number two 25-15. Oakdale bounced back with a 25-22, 25-20 victory. Emma Harper led the team in aces with three and kills with 15. Gibson finished with 14 assists, Patterson with 15 blocks and Whorton had 31 digs.
This week Oakdale will host Ripon on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The girls finish the week at Escalon on Thursday, Sept. 5.
The junior varsity will host the annual Oakdale Junior Varsity Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 7 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
In action this past week the JV girls found success against both Hughson and Sonora, winning both matches in straight sets.
