COVID-19 has yet again affected another event in Oakdale. The latest is the Oakdale High School Sports Boosters Annual Dinner, Dance and Auction. After first being postponed to Aug. 8; earlier this week the Sports Boosters organization announced that the event would be cancelled.
As an alternative the club is currently planning other events that will serve as fundraisers. Potential events include online auctions and a drive-thru tri tip sandwich event. President Antoinette Rodin said that they are actively trying to finalize these events and will stay in compliance with safety and health regulations.
“We as a group are trying make a schedule for these events. We have a few dates that we are leaning towards but we have not yet finalized them. As soon as they are set, we will let everyone know,” said Rodin.
The Dinner-Dance-Auction event is held annually to help raise funds for the Mustang athletics programs. Since 2007 the Boosters have raised $850,000 to benefit various athletic programs for the school. Scholarships are also created by this event where they hand out scholarships to student-athletes from OHS. The Sports Boosters are a volunteer non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage, promote and support all athletic teams at OHS.
The Oakdale High School Booster Club is issuing refunds if you purchased tickets for the event.
