Dear Editor,
Did you see all those flags on Flag Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day in Oakdale? We sure hope so! For over 30 years the Oakdale Lions Club has placed “Old Glory” on our streets. The number of flags is now 300 and we feel privileged and honored to do this.
The Lions drill, clean, paint holes, repair and replace flags and staffs (poles) all at the Lions expense. We are asking for a tax deductible donation of $25, or any amount you like to cover some of this expense of providing this service to our community.
The Oakdale Lions Club is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization so your donation would be tax deductible.
Here is a partial list of some of the other services the Oakdale Lions Club has provided and continues to provide to the Oakdale community:
Clock Tower clock and flags, wheelchair loan program, annual CCST (Childrens’ Christmas shopping trip), breakfast on Saturday and Sunday for the American Cancer Society’s “Relay For Life” event, eyesight consultation and eyeglass program, flag program, Don Osborne Memorial Run for the Library (funds support the library), and High School scholarships.
Plus, “Society For the Blind” lunch and lunch for the handicapped, SOS (Support Our Schools) Run, support the Oakdale Citizens Cemetery, Community Birthday Calendar project, Texas Hold ‘em Poker Party, BSA (Boy Scouts of America) Troop 43, Oakdale Community Sharing, T.L. Davis Sports Complex, support Student Speaker Contest, and serve lunch at the Salmon Festival.
Again, we are seeking your support in continuing to provide the flag program on certain holidays. Please make checks payable to: Oakdale Lions Club Foundation, P.O. Box 550, Oakdale, CA 95361.
Thank you for your donation, it is really appreciated.
