William ‘Bill’ Amman, 54, of Oakdale died Sunday, Feb. 3 at home.

He was born Jan. 24, 1959 in Los Angeles, the son of Kay and Gerald Amman. Growing up in Southern California he developed a strong talent for woodworking from his father and was involved in 4H. His love for animals continued throughout his life and he was an active supporter of local 4H and the Oakdale Animal Shelter.

He married his wife Linda shortly after moving to Oakdale in 1988. He was a general contractor for many years specializing in cabinetry.

He loved problem solving, whether it was fixing a lawnmower, helping his granddaughter Bobbi with her “projects,” assisting customers at Tractor Supply, or researching the family tree. He would do anything he could to help anyone.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; stepsons, Robert (Andrea) Fuller, Ryan ‘Earl’ (Shannon) Fuller, all of Oakdale; mother, Kay Thompson and stepfather, Charlie Thompson of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; sisters, Linda Rompal, Cheryl Hertan; brother, David Amman of Oakdale; granddaughters, Bobbi Dean Fuller, Taylor Ryan Rose, both of Oakdale; and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Amman; and brother, Robert Amman.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Oakdale Animal Shelter.
