Wayne Scott Edwards, aka “Sprocket,” 56, born in Oakdale, California on November 16, 1967, passed into eternal rest on January 1, 2024, at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center of Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Scott was born in Oakdale, California and is survived by his parents, Jim Edwards, (Nora), and Sharon Speer, (Paul), a brother, Brian Edwards, (Chris), niece, Jade, and nephew (Grant), all of Oakdale, California. Two daughters, Taylor Ayers, (Tanis), and grandson (Jensen) of Billings, Montana, and Tyra Edwards of Oakdale, California. He also leaves behind his beloved Queensland Heeler of nine years, Felix. He was preceded in death by his brother James Edwards Jr.

Scott is an alumnus of Oakdale High School, having graduated there in 1985. After high school he went to work at Knudson’s Nursery in Valley Home and spent many years there honing his skills as a nurseryman. Anyone who knew him, knew he had a green thumb as he could not only make plants grow, but make them beautiful with the endless skills he possessed. For almost the last 10 years he had been a heavy equipment operator for Sun Harvest Incorporated in Linden, California.

He had many hobbies over his lifetime which included riding and racing dirt bikes, as well as hunting and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR and NHRA fan and collected Dale Earnhardt and Eric Medlen memorabilia. In later years he picked up the love of golf and could be found frequenting area golf courses in his spare time.

His passing is a tremendous loss for the family and friends that loved and admired him very much.

A celebration of life will be celebrated on January 19, 2024, noon to 3 p.m., at the Dying Breed Brewery, 963 Shepard Ct., Suite B, Oakdale, California.
