In Loving Memory of Sharon Lee Lemons

Sharon Lemons passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024 after a brief battle with Alzheimer’s disease, at the age of 85. She is survived by her son, Brian, his wife (Mom’s daughter!) Kelly, and their two children, Katie and Walter. Sharon also leaves behind two additional granddaughters: Megan McCoy (husband Steve, and their two children Stella and Buster) and Morgan Lemons (fiancé Tim, son Bo, daughter Adalida). She is also survived by beloved brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to count.

Sharon was born on May 8, 1939 in a very small, rural settlement near Placerville, CA to James and Dorothy Stowe. Mom was the second born of six children; older brother Jimmy, younger sister Dotty, and younger brothers Stan, Tom and Tim. She was predeceased by all of her siblings except Tom and Tim.

Life was good in Placerville when mom was growing up. Family, friends, horses, horse shows and parades filled her memories with happiness. After graduating from Placerville High School in 1957, mom worked at a local title company for a couple of years until she met and married the love of her life, James Lemons, in 1961. Children soon followed; Doug was born in 1962, and Brian arrived in the following year. The family moved to Oakdale in 1968 and have lived here since that time.

Mom loved meeting new people and traveling, especially with her dear friend Barbara Merry and her dear friend Barbara Jones. Mom spent a great deal of time seeing many old friends across the US. In addition, trips to Great Britain, Turkey, Thailand and China highlighted her travel adventures. She will always be remembered for her sense of adventure, her willingness to help anyone and everyone, her selflessness, and her fierce devotion to her family.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on October 12 at 2 p.m. at the home of Brian and Kelly Lemons. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Sharon’s name to the charity of your choosing.
