RITA ANN CORRIGAN obit

Rita Ann Corrigan, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and dog mom, passed away September 22, 2024, at the age of 66. She was born to Albert and Dorothy Corrigan in Merced, CA, on August 12, 1958. During her first year of life, her family moved to Oakdale, CA, where she was raised and attended Oakdale schools, making many lifelong friends. After graduating from Oakdale High School in 1976, Rita earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 35 years, the majority of those employed as Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, CA. She loved her job and the people she worked with, again making lasting friendships.

Rita was bright, outgoing and never knew a stranger. She loved holidays and gatherings, she loved her family and her friends (many of whom became part of her family), and she loved her dog Marley. One of her favorite pastimes was music and going to concerts. She enjoyed all genres of music, but was known to be a Parrot Head, attending Jimmy Buffet concerts whenever possible, as well as Elton John, Dave Koz and many others. Rita also loved to travel. She had been to major cities throughout Europe and many cities across the United States. Her favorite places to be, however, were Pacific Grove or Pinecrest with Marley, her family and her friends.

Rita was predeceased by her beloved parents Albert Corrigan and Dorothy (Hanley) Corrigan. Rita is survived by her sister, Mary Corrigan-Durr (Dennis Durr) and her brothers, Roger Corrigan (Joyce Anderson) and Douglas Corrigan. In addition, she is survived by her niece, Alexandra Durr (Juan Vera); her nephews, Aaron Durr (Valentina Gomez) and Jaimeson Durr (Pamela Parker); her grandniece, Kaitlyn Durr; her aunt, Bobbe Corrigan; and many cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1225 Olive St., Oakdale, CA, on Friday, October 25, at 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following at the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Astro Foundation Adoption Center, 157 N. Fifth Ave., Oakdale, CA 95361, or a charity of your choice.
