There are very few people that touch the future and Rebekah Remkiewicz is one of them. A blossoming teaching career was suddenly and unexpectedly cut down on July 19, 2024. Born at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California on St. Joseph’s Day in 1977 Rebekah was destined to be a teacher. Rebekah’s mother, grandmother and both great grandmothers were California teachers. In an unconventional start, Rebekah became a fixture in Delhi and Merced County as a newspaper reporter and then the owner of the Delhi Express. Rebekah graduated from California State University, Stanislaus and discovered her true love, teaching.

She earned her teaching credential from Brandman University and did her student teaching in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District. After teaching Delhi Adult School for many years she moved to St. George Parish School in Stockton and St. Anne’s Parish School in Lodi. Looking for a school closer to home she moved to Gratton Charter School in Denair. Seeking a far greater challenge Rebekah was hired by Fusion Charter School in Turlock and felt she had truly found her “forever school”. Fusion Charter School’s mission as extracted from their website: “Fusion Charter provides a unique educational choice for students in grades 7-12 seeking alternatives to a traditional school environment. Fusion prioritizes social/emotional needs and obstacles to school progress. Our team focuses on a personalized approach to education from caring credentialed teachers and daily support for online learning in a hybrid independent study program.” Rebekah excelled at working with at-risk students and was recently named “Fusion Teacher of the Year” for 2023. Bekah Rose was a tireless educator joining and leading the Central California Computer User Educators Association as well as contributing to the teacher’s group, Midnight Pedagogy. She was also the author and trainer for multiple seminars and breakout sessions and was the first teacher to bring to the CUE Conference a team Session with both her and her son Connor. Rebekah also created several personal and professional videos. She was a Google Certified Instructor and in less than 18 months Rebekah also earned her Master of Information Science from the University of Tennessee.

A deeply spiritual person Rebekah raised her two children Connor and Kiera as committed Christians. Bekah served in the church as a lay reader and a eucharistic minister. Rebekah was a tireless fundraiser for her churches, raising as much as $3,000 or $4,000 in a single event. Her faith brought her a lot of peace and strength. Before God welcomed her home, Rebekah left two beautiful children, Connor and Kiera McCurdy of Oakdale. Frank and Kathryn Remkiewicz of Oakdale were proud to call “Bekah Rose” their firstborn and their daughter. Her brother, Matthew David Remkiewicz and his two children, Katelyn, and Jackson of Rosamond, California. A caring friend and avid traveler and adventurer, she also leaves behind countless friends, near and far.
