Raegan Amerine, born on April 10, 1924, in Modesto, California passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, in Oakdale, California. A devoted family man, Raegan cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. Raegan graduated from Modesto High and enlisted in the Air Force. During World War II, Raegan served his country. At one point, he was stationed in Denver, where he met his future wife, Velda Jean Pilcher. They married in 1944 and built a life together rooted in faith and family.

Upon returning to Modesto after his military service, Raegan partnered with his father to start a turkey business. His two brothers, Mervin and Richard “Dick,” joined them after their service, and together they transformed the company into the largest turkey breeding foundation in the world, making significant advancements in turkey genetics.

Raegan and Jean had two children Ron (Kathleen) and Gary (Debi) and six grandchildren Joanna Kulina (Bobby), Sarah Conger (Steve), Joy Kiely (Kevin), Jonathan Amerine, Shanna Springer (Alan) and Garrett Amerine (Terah).

In 1985 Jean lost her battle with cancer. In 1986 Raegan was blessed to marry Constance Theige and the family grew to add two bonus daughters Jennifer Hibberd (Paul), Candi Benoun and four additional grandchildren Shelli Borba (John), Dan Pence (Mia), Shannon Hainlin (Tom), and Chris Baustian (Leona).

A man of deep faith, Raegan loved God and was actively involved in his community. He served as a Boy Scout leader, helping many youth, including his sons and a grandson, achieve the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. He also sang in the church choir and led numerous Bible studies, touching the lives of many with his warmth and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean (1985) and Constance (2016) and brothers Mervin Amerine (2008) and Dick Amerine (2023). He is survived by his two sons, Ron Amerine (Kathleen) and Gary Amerine (Debi), along with 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, not to mention four great-great-grandchildren.

Raegan’s life was enriched by his roles as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Raegan’s genuine care for others made everyone feel loved and important. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and his commitment to uplifting those around him. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Services will be held Thursday, September 5 at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA 95326 at 10am in the Heritage Chapel with graveside and reception to follow.
