Johnny E. Manthei, 53, died Wednesday, Oct. 30 of cancer at Livermore VA Hospital.
He was born in Indianapolis, Ind. He was a resident of Oakdale for 25 years.
Mr. Manthei was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a mechanic at Golf Cars Unlimited.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Boy Scout Troop 43.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Manthei; children, Jacob S. Manthei, Stephanie Manthei; parents, Carl and Izzy Manthei, all of Oakdale; siblings, Loretta Dodson of Riverbank, Robert Hall of Yuma, Ariz., and Brian Manthei of Oakdale.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Maxiner Hall, son, David Kenneth Manthei; and grandparents, LF Manthei and Alma Manthei.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Cherokee Funeral Home, Lodi. A service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10 at Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi. Interment will also be at Cherokee Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Palo Alto VA Hospital; or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
