Joanne M. Radcliffe passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her beloved kid-sister; Esther Staley, dear brother-in-law; Lou Naclerio, five children; Robin Radcliffe, James P. (Amy) Radcliffe, Michael Radcliffe, Catherine (Ronald) Birdsong and Barbara Radcliffe, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years; James M. Radcliffe, parents; Glenn and Barbara Staley, younger brothers; Garold and John Staley and grandson; Devin Birdsong.
She was born in Oakdale, California, grew up in Riverbank and attended Oakdale High School. After high school, she enrolled in beauty college and shortly thereafter, met and wed her loving husband, James. She was a homemaker and beautician for many years and later worked at Modesto Hobby and Crafts and The Office of the Stanislaus County Public Guardian until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed her family and friends, gardening, cooking, knitting, crocheting, sewing, arts and crafts, the Hallmark Channel, playing Scrabble and the New York Times Spelling Bee puzzle where she often achieved the status of “Queen Bee.” She attended both St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Modesto and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale. Her faith was unwavering and her love of family, friends and others was ever-present. We will forever hold her close in our hearts and never forget the endearing love and joy she brought to our lives. She will forever be our “Queen Bee!” A special note of thanks to all our dear friends who visited, prayed with her and made her smile, and to the doctors, nurses and staff at Doctors Medical Center for the wonderful care provided.
