Daniel Joseph Reese, 90, died peacefully on Saturday, April 16 surrounded by family and friends in Oakdale.

He was born in Visalia. He was a longtime resident of Three Rivers before making Oakdale his final home.

Mr. Reese was a highly respected cattle buyer for over 60 years. He bought cattle for O’Neill Beef; however, his longest association was with Harris Ranch from which he retired in 1994. Strong bonds of friendship and respect still endure.

He loved life, his family, rodeos, riding in the hills and playing golf. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Three Rivers Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barbara; his children, Spike (Karen) Reese, Blair (Terri) Reese, Kathryn Bernard; Barbara’s children, Billy (‘Tweetie’) Kelley, Debbie Jones; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; Barbara’s three grandchildren; cousin, Linda West of Visalia; and brother- and sister-in-law, Chuck (Jody) Pennington of Oakdale.

Services were held at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel and Oakdale Memorial Park Cemetery on April 21. A Celebration of Life immediately followed at the Oakdale Saddle Club where family and friends gathered to share favorite memories.
