C.E. ‘Tom’ Lowry, 93, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at his home with family present.
He was a lifelong resident of Oakdale.
Mr. Lowry was a proud World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps as a medic traveling to Australia, Africa and then settling in Italy for about four years.
He retired after a long and successful career in the Lowry Brothers Trucking business.
He enjoyed fishing and golfing and was a charter member at the Oakdale Country Club. He spent many enjoyable days camping, hunting, and visiting his favorite cabin in Dardanelle. After retirement he enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Alaska, Europe, and many locations throughout the United States.
He is survived by his children, Dan (Carol) Lowry, Dianne (Bob) Pennell, Michelle Lowry, Judy (Larry) Johnson, Tricia (Jim) Rallis, Barbara (Bill) Cortese, and Jimmy (Nancy) Bowen; brother, Stan Lowry; 19 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 21 years, Carolyn; second wife of 24 years, Dolly; parents, Wilburt and Lena Lowry; brothers, Bud and Roy; sister, Arlene; and granddaughter, Alicia Corral.
A memorial service was held Sept. 14 at St. Matthias Anglican Church. He was laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park.
