Ardythe Alice Edwards Looper has passed away after a life well-lived and richly shared. Born in Skowhegan, Maine, Ardythe’s early life took a meaningful turn when her family relocated to Oakdale during her father’s service in World War II.
It was in Oakdale that Ardythe found her roots and her heart. She assisted at her parents’ dancing school where she met the love of her life, Jearl Looper, Jr.
Mrs. Looper touched many lives in her 30 years of service to the Oakdale school district as a teacher, district coordinator, and principal of Cloverland Elementary. Ardythe cherished her lifelong friendships, some of which spanned 80 years. She was active in bridge groups, AAUW, and the Residents’ Council at Samaritan Village. To her family, Ardythe was the sharp-witted, fun-loving matriarch who anchored their lives with wisdom and warmth.
She leaves behind her children Julie (Bryan) Minabe and Rick Looper, grandchildren Melissa (Brad) Franca, Aaron Wharff, Brenton (Dru) Looper, and Megan Looper, and five great-grandchildren. Her legacy of loyalty, humor, and joy lives on.
