Adeline “Lena” Eileen Machado, born on August 3, 1927, in Vernalis, California, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, in Ripon, California, surrounded by her loving family.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Tony S. Machado; her parents, Joaquin and Carolina Pereira; her son, Manual L. Machado; siblings and other cherished relatives.

She is survived by her children: Rosemary Eriksen of Oakdale, Linda Rocha of Oakdale, Caroline Hohenwarter (Thomas) of Oakdale, Angelina Moore of Oakdale, Tony A. Machado (Lisa) of Hughson, and Lisa Machado Husman (Kenneth) of Ripon. Lena also leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren and step-grandchildren: A.J. Staal, Sherri Staal, Ahren Hohenwarter, Derek Hohenwarter, Ryan Swass, Steven Moore, Mark Moore, Ashley Overton, Anthony Machado, Carson Husman, Haiden Husman, Kaitlin Husman, Antoinette Eriksen, Hans Eriksen, Brian Machado Ketner, Kenneth Tackitt, and Jake Tackitt; as well as 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren – with one more great grandchild and one more great-great-grandchild on the way.

Lena worked at Hershey’s Chocolate Factory in Oakdale before dedicating 25 years to Hunt-Wesson (Con-Agra) in Oakdale. She also touched the lives of many students while working at Fair Oaks Elementary Cafeteria and Oakdale Junior High and through teaching Catechism at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

A devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale, Lena supported her parish through countless contributions to its growth and ministries.

For over 35 years, she enjoyed playing bingo along with slot machines at the Chicken Ranch Casino in Jamestown and later found great joy in only the slot machines.

Lena’s unconditional love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.

The services are as follows: Viewing, January 30, 2025, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Rosary at 5:30 p.m., Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Funeral, January 31, 2025, 11 a.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oakdale. Graveside Service, January 31, 2025, St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Modesto. Reception to follow graveside service back at St. Mary’s in Oakdale.
