Weekend battles in the Ferry

The annual Civil War reenactments took place over the weekend in Knights Ferry, put on by the American Civil War Association.

Two battles were staged on Saturday, March 22 and two more on Sunday, March 23. Confederate troops gathered above the Stanislaus River, cannons stationed on hillside, while the Union troops were scattered on the paths through the hills and by the river’s edge near the historic covered bridge.

The realistic battles are put on for large crowds, then people get the opportunity to visit the soldiers and their families, as camps are set up throughout the Stanislaus River Parks area in Knights Ferry for the weekend.
