Erin Balaam shares some important information with us concerning the Northern California Junior Rodeo Association finals that will occur on September 8th and 9th at the Oakdale Rodeo Grounds. We are told that the following young people have worked all year to qualify in the top ten for one or more of their events. They are Jolie Balaam, Travis Kent, Wyatt Roseberry, Machaela Sinclair, Brett Eskew, Caden Farquer, Harlee Burtschi, Colton Farquer, Kelsey Cadwell, Payton Sinclair and Dante Martin. Erin promises to provide us with the results for these entrants, she also tells us that she will provide the results for the above listed kids and we will include them in next week’s column. Thank you Erin, we look forward to hearing from you in listing the results.

Nancy Osmundson shares the following information with us concerning the Fall Biennial MAC meeting scheduled for October 17th from 5:30-8 p.m. Nancy tells us that the group would like to host this event at the Valley Home Community Park, however the group plans to have the Valley Home Fire Station as a backup location in case of inclement weather. We will try to keep everyone posted as the details are worked out.

We offer congratulations to the new Valley Home 4-H officers. They are Past President Jenna Heaton, President, Jordan McCain. Vice-President, Garret Bryhni with Ashley Barreto taking on the role of Secretary, Luke Pouncey handling the Club finances as Treasurer and Marrisa Campbell, the duties of Corresponding Secretary.
The 4-H’ers began their 2012-2013 year with sign-ups held on September 4th at 7 p.m. at the Valley Home Community Park located across the street from Valley Home School. Registration packets were handed out at the meeting. Cost for sign-up this year was $28.00 per member. As a thank you to the 4-H Leaders, their insurance was covered by the Club.
Members are already in action with plans for a fundraising activity to take place on September 22nd at Tractor Supply in Oakdale. More information on that project will follow.

Remember, September 22nd is also the day for the Valley Home Park Fundraiser when chicken or tri-tip sandwiches with side dishes for eating at the park or at home will be available. Tickets are $10.00 for adults or $5.00 for children under age 12. Contact Winnie Mullins and more information will be in next week’s news.

Glenn and Laura Burghardt are anxiously awaiting word on the acceptance by the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences of the over 300 photos taken by them. These photos were sent to them for a selection of the couple’s Chiton shell collection to possibly be included in the Academy’s publication of a new Compendium of World Wide Shells.
