School is off to a great start! We understand that MoHawk the school mascot is currently residing with Ms. Vuyovich’s 1st grade class. They won the mascot in the first week of the weekly Hawk Spirit Wear competition. Will the rivalry with Ms. Davis’ second graders be rekindled this year? Or will another grade come on strong this year? Stay tuned. If you would like to purchase Valley Home Hawk T-shirts, sweatshirts or adult zipped hooded sweatshirts so you or your children can also participate in Spirit Fridays, call Michelle at 595-4071.

Valley Home 4-H President Jenna Heaton brings us up to date on the Club’s activities. Our Valley Home 4-H officer team met last Wednesday at our Valley Home Community Park to make plans for their regular monthly meeting. The first monthly meeting, which is also the sign up meeting, will be held on September 6th at 7:00 p.m. Once again the 4H’ers will be meeting at our Community Park, located right across from Valley Home School. The officers report that they really enjoyed meeting at the park, it was very beautiful and peaceful. The 4-H officers would like to thank Glenn Burghardt and Joe Perez for their daily work at the park so that the entire community can enjoy this special place.
Valley Home 4-H is proud of our college bound 4-H members. Lainey Smith is attending Delta College, Gunter Brisi is attending Chico State and Garrett Martin is once again attending Berkeley. We wish each of them great success!
As High School football season approaches, our 4-H members are also looking forward to attending football games and rooting for our 4-H members who are also talented Oakdale High football players. Luke Pouncey and Nathan Soares will play Thursday night football while Justin Martin and Jordan McCain will hit the gridiron Friday nights! Go Mustangs!
Many will remember Kristy Short our former Valley Home 4-H Poultry leader. We are happy to report hearing from her and she is very happy and enjoying her home in Washington state. She misses her Valley Home friends and sends a big hello to all.

Beci Mullins and her bull riding friend, Brent, who was here visiting from Canada were surprised to learn the great bull “Troubador” was being pastured just ½ mile from her home. Brent took tons of pictures to send to his family in Australia. While here Brent helped celebrate Beci’s sister, Tena’s birthday with home-made ice cream and a family barbecue.
