Please would each of you pray for a very special young woman. Caitlyn Hartzell-Mahan grew up in our area and went to Oakdale High School. She is the beautiful daughter of Oakdale High Ag Teacher Ed Hartzell and Vena Hudgins. Caitlyn is the precious wife of Blake Mahan; she has been diagnosed with stage four melanoma. Caitlyn, pregnant with baby Lydia, was airlifted to UCSF on July 27. At UCSF doctors told Caitlyn they had found a tumor in her liver. Caitlyn and Blake have fought a valiant battle together since that day. On August 7, the young couple delivered beautiful baby Lydia at 27 weeks. Baby Lydia was born at two pounds, two ounces. On August 15, doctors started Caitlyn on her immunotherapy. This is the start of fighting her stage four melanoma. Caitlyn and Blake are in the fight of their young lives. Please keep praying for Caitlyn, Blake and sweet baby Lydia.
A committee is planning a Benefit Dinner Fundraiser for the family and more information will follow soon. Your prayers are important and so much needed during this very, very hard time. Please keep praying. This amazing young couple has a wonderful attitude, a deep love for each other and a deep love for their precious baby Lydia. Your continued prayers will help give them strength; your prayers will help them stay strong.
God bless beautiful Caitlyn, baby Lydia, and Blake.
