Hello everyone … I hope all is well with each of you.

This week I would like to encourage each of you to mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 9th! There will be extremely important information concerning our Fire Service; this is not just for Valley Home, but the entire district. Although this important information is for everyone in our Fire District, here in Valley Home we already know what it’s like to have the doors on our station closed … and up until now, at least we could call 911 and an engine would respond. Everyone in our Fire District needs to mark the calendar and come to Valley Home School at 6:30pm on Wednesday, October 9th. This is a regularly scheduled MAC Meeting: CHP, Fire, Sheriff, School Superintendent Bill Slikker, Stanislaus County Superintendent Buck Condit, and Public Works Department personnel are usually all there to answer your questions. We are grateful to each of our first responders and to each of you who work so hard for our communities.
Concerning our Fire District … things are going to be changing. Things could get much, much worse for all of us, as it’s a real possibility more firehouse doors could be closed. If some of the things that are being discussed right now come to pass, and it looks like they definitely will, our lives will be more in danger than ever. The cost of our fire insurance (if we can even get it) will go through the roof. This could be a terrible disaster waiting to happen. Please come to this important meeting … we need to find out what’s going on. Please take the time to attend, we all need to understand what’s going to happen.

Last week I said I will keep you updated over the next few weeks about our Valley Home Fall Harvest Festival. So many exciting things going on that evening, Saturday, October 26th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The Fall Harvest Festival is held each year at our Valley Home School. It benefits both our school and community. This week I would like to share how exciting our Petting Zoo will be. This amazing Petting Zoo is the work of Sierra 4-H. The 4-Hers spend much of their time taking care of these animals and are proud to bring them out for your enjoyment. The Petting Zoo will be located at the far end; come visit some really incredible animals. Remember we will have hot dogs, nachos, chili and more inside the gym at our Harvest Kitchen, while outside we will have a delicious tri tip dinner. The tri tip dinner proceeds will go to 17-year-old Wyatt Jones and his family. Wyatt was diagnosed with Leukemia in January of this year. Please come by and grab a dinner to support Wyatt …it has been a very hard year.
There will be plenty to do; games, Bingo, roping or, if you prefer, bring your lawn chair or just come sit on a hay bale and enjoy the sights and sounds of our Fall Harvest Festival in Valley Home. It really is a special place.

We have very sad news to tell you this week … our beloved young mother of two amazing boys … and precious daughter to her mother and father, our precious Liz Esparza was called to her Heavenly home this past week. Liz was a very special woman, a nurse, a devoted mother, a caring daughter and dear friend to many here in Valley Home. Our hearts are broken … Rest in Heavenly Peace, sweet Elizabeth.
