I would like to send a huge “Thank You” to Sheriff Jeff Dirkse and to RPS Chief Ed Ridenour; also, thanks to Riverbank Police Services for an amazing Junior Police Academy. Last week students who had successfully completed sixth, seventh or eighth grade could attend the Junior Police Academy in Riverbank. Students learned about the history of law enforcement, modern law enforcement practices, criminal justice system, criminal law, police communications, report writing, mock traffic stops, investigations, evidence collection, crime scene investigation. They learned to fingerprint, they learned about flying drones, and students also got to meet several officers and specialty units including the Dive Team, K-9 unit and many more. It was an amazing week for these students! Officer Buck and his fellow officers did an outstanding job teaching our young people. The kids learned that first of all it was important to be on time and ready to learn, to show respect to each other and to those around them. So many important life lessons were among the law enforcement training and skills that were taught during the Academy. The week ended with a celebration and ceremony with each student receiving a beautiful certificate along with pictures with the Officers and with Chief Ridenour. Thank you to all who made this such a special week for our young people; you are very much appreciated.

This past week Valley Home resident Chris Rocha made the trip up to the Reno, Nevada Truck Show. Chris has the most beautiful bright yellow Peterbilt truck. It is definitely a show stopper.
What fun it was for the Perez family who also made the trip up to the Reno Truck Show. Shawn said his beautiful bride Jen, was in Trucker Heaven! Jen loves those big rigs and always appreciates every detail, no matter how small or how big; she appreciates the work that goes into keeping those big rigs so beautiful and so ready for the road.
