This week we dedicate our column to Mrs. Laura Burghardt and her husband, Mr. Glenn Burghardt. Both Laura and Glenn have given so much to our Valley Home community. The Burghardt’s have worked tirelessly over the years to support all fundraisers and events in Valley Home. They are well versed in the history of our community. It is always so interesting to hear about Valley Home and the history of how it became known as Valley Home. Many of our young people are not aware that during World War II the government forbade our Lutheran Church parishioners to speak in German and directed them to speak in English only. The history of our beautiful little community is filled with enlightening facts and is a source of great pride for all! Thank you, Laura and Glenn, for your research and your love for our community. Laura wrote this column “The Valley Home News” for over 38 years. We are thankful to you, Laura. We appreciate you and Glenn very much!
