This week we would like to introduce a new and very positive group coming to Oakdale: “HOW” - “Helping One Woman”. We share these words from Valley Home resident Melonie Rocha.

The Oakdale Chapter of “HOW” is coming to Oakdale in January of 2025. Our Oakdale Chapter will be led by Melonie Rocha, Adriana Beeler, and Lillian Dillard.

Let’s talk about helping one woman … What is “HOW”? Helping One Woman is a non-profit 501(c)(3) founded by Charlotte Bavaria and Brenda Critzer in 2008 and has grown from a single chapter in Fresno CA to numerous chapters around the United States.

“Vision” – We envision a world where everyone is willing to provide comfort and support to another person when they need hope restored to their life.

“Mission” – In order to help create such a world, we are women joining together to demonstrate our support to help one woman at a time move forward on her journey through times of devastating trouble or loss.

“Motto” – One woman with $10 can buy another woman lunch. Ten women with $10 can buy another woman’s groceries. One hundred women with $10 can make a real difference in another woman’s life.

“Social Media” – Liking and Sharing our social media posts and accounts can help us create a greater outreach to women in our community. You can find the Oakdale “HOW” Chapter on Instagram and Facebook, for additional information @howoakdale

“How Can You Help” – We are seeking gifts of silent auction baskets, desserts, and raffle prizes to support our efforts. Additionally if you are interested in sponsoring a dinner, your support would be greatly appreciated and would further enhance the contributions from small businesses. If you or your business is interested in supporting our community for the “HOW” Oakdale Chapter, please send an email to 1howoakdale@gmail.com or reach out on our social media pages.

The “HOW” Oakdale Chapter Dinners will take place on the third Wednesday of each month at the Oakdale Event Center, located at 335 N. Eighth Ave., Oakdale CA 95361.

Upcoming will be the first “HOW” Oakdale Dinner on January 15th, 2025 at the Oakdale Event Center.

I end this week by asking once again that we keep the family of our sweet Liz Esparza in our prayers. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 5th, at 3:30pm at The House, Modesto, 1601 Coffee Road. May God bring comfort to each of her beloved family and friends … she will be very deeply missed and forever loved.
