Summer Youth Theater Opportunities Available
Huttons

Hutton’s Hamlet will celebrate its 24th year of Summer Youth Theater Workshops in 2022 with six exciting plays.

The season kicks off with a western musical comedy So You Want to be a Cowboy, followed by Camp Monster, again a musical comedy with a ghoulish theme. Then Caught in the Web, an internet caper, is on slate as the third workshop, to be followed by A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol; The Musical (Christmas in July!). The season wraps up with two one-act plays, Unhappily Ever After and The Unscary Ghost, which will be performed over the same weekend.

This summer’s line-up of plays will be directed by Hamlet owner Annette Hutton, who started the Hamlet theater program in 1999, and her granddaughter Emily Frantz. Each play is produced and rehearsed in a two-week workshop, with the exception of the last two plays which will be one-week workshops. All play performances are scheduled on Friday at 7 p.m. and on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the end of the workshop.

Hutton’s Hamlet Performing Arts Center is housed in the chapel at the northeast corner of Church Avenue and West G Street in Oakdale.

A limited number of slots for actors ages 7 through 18 are still available and are filled on a first come/first serve basis. Call 209-848-1216 for information or check with Richard Hutton in Hutton’s Hamlet Music Store at 149 Church Ave., Oakdale.
