The Daybook provides a look at items going on at Stanislaus State University in Turlock.

Faculty Achievements

Two new series of talks are being offered on the Stanislaus State campuses: “Conversations with Authors and Artists,” an interview series spotlighting scholarly and creative achievements by faculty in the College of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), and “Stockton Talks,” a Stockton Campus speaker series featuring faculty and graduate students sharing research, publications and other creative work. The second installment in the “Conversations with Authors and Artists” series is at noon on Tuesday, April 25, in Room 102 of the J. Burton Vasche Library and will be broadcast on YouTube.

Ukraine Delegation Visit

A delegation of mayors from Ukraine will visit Stanislaus State from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, April 27. The event, to be held in Room 102 in Bizzini Hall, is open to campus community members and the public.

Every year, Modesto Sister Cities International hosts a civic delegation from Ukraine as part of the Open World program managed by the Congressional Office of International Leadership (COIL).

This year, Ukraine mayors will speak to the strategic challenges of building out sustainable energy sources and critical infrastructure while fighting off Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The mayors will talk about the current circumstances in their country with a special focus on the war’s impact on civilian populations and the public institutions that sustain them. After the mayors’ presentations, there will be time for questions from the audience.

All are encouraged to join in for this informative discussion.

Program Celebrates Creativity

The amazing work of students, faculty and staff was highlighted during the Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities Celebration at Stan State. More than 100 people gathered to learn about faculty projects and see 14 posters of student research.
