Slight Dip At Pumps Trend Seen Locally

Modesto gas prices have fallen 3.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.98/gallon on Nov. 23, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 201 stations. Gas prices in Modesto are 0.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 69.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $2.59/gallon on Monday while the most expensive was $3.59, a difference of one dollar per gallon. The lowest price in the state Monday was $2.39 while the highest was $4.25/gallon, a difference of $1.86.

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 1.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.10/gallon on Monday, Nov. 23. The national average is down 5.0 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 49.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $3.03/gallon, down 4.4 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.07; Oakland - $3.27, down 1.3 cents from $3.28; and San Jose - $3.22, down 0.5 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.23.

“Between now and the end of the year, we aren’t likely to see many fireworks at the pump as demand continues to remain well below prior years, but as a (coronavirus) vaccine is set to be released in the months ahead, prices will likely aim for higher ground, so motorists take heed that today’s prices may not hold for much longer,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.
