Signing day arrives for Mustang athletes

It was a celebration of all things Mustang on Thursday morning, May 2 as a number of Oakdale High School athletes put pen to paper to sign on with their colleges of choice to continue their scholastic and athletic careers.

For the 18 students, it was the culmination of a lot of work and sacrifice, along with the support of their families, that helped get them to the historic moment.

Athletes representing several sports signed their letters of intent in a ceremony hosted in the foyer of the Mustang gym.

In alphabetical order, the OHS students, their college destination and their sport follow.

Omar Alsaidi, Syracuse University, cross country; Presley Barnes, University of the Pacific, softball; Claire Brown, Simpson University, soccer; Tommy Chance, California Lutheran University, football; Elias Corona, Southern Oregon University, wrestling; Raegan Everett, University of California Riverside, softball.

Also, Carlos Garcia, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, wrestling; Gavin Gleason, Arizona Christian University, football; Cameron Guthrie, Concordia University, track and field; Emilio Johnson, Menlo College, wrestling; Marley Leighton, Concordia University of Texas, softball; Gabe McDonald, Arizona Christian University, football.

Also, Kyndra Obermeyer, Stanislaus State University, soccer; Jackson Oliveira, Stanislaus State University, cross country; Mason Oliveira, Stanislaus State University, cross country; Trey Parsons, St. Norbert College, baseball; Bailey Peterson, University of Nebraska, Kearny, softball; and Eziequel Vela, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, wrestling.

The signing day festivities were coordinated through the OHS Sports Boosters organization.
