Less than a month away, the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Parade is on the schedule for Saturday, April 12.
This ‘rain or shine’ event is seeking entries, with the downtown parade a key component of Rodeo Weekend in the Cowboy Capital.
Deadline to sign up for the parade is Monday, March 31 and there is a $35 entry fee, payable to the Oakdale Saddle Club Parade, P.O. Box 1436, Oakdale, CA 95361.
Parade coordinator is Sutton Price with Jaylind Kilgore serving as parade co-coordinator.
The staging location for the parade is at the intersection of West F Street and Oak Avenue on Oakdale’s west end; staging on the morning of the parade begins at 7 a.m. and the April 12 parade steps off promptly at 9 a.m.
There are several parade classifications for entries and the various groups and floats will be judged by the Oakdale Saddle Club and KAT Country. For entries that will be performing in front of the judges, there is a time limit of no more than 60 seconds by any entrant.
The annual Oakdale Saddle Club PRCA Rodeo will bring competitors in for Saturday and Sunday afternoon competitions, April 12 and 13, and there are also a number of activities leading up to the rodeo, staged throughout the week prior to the PRCA event. Competition in bull riding, barrel racing, team roping and more is hosted at the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Grounds at 1624 E F St., Oakdale.
