New Officers Sworn To Serve

More than 100 new officers were sworn in during a graduation ceremony at the CHP Academy on March 8. The cadets received encouragement from family and friends throughout the route.

Two Arrested On Attempted Murder Charges

CHP officers helped arrest two suspected Oakland gang members and seized several firearms in connection with a freeway shooting on Interstate 580. Members of the CHP’s Golden Gate Division Warrant Service Team, along with officers from the Oakland Police Department, served arrest and search warrants on March 6 at three Bay Area residences in support of an investigation dating to Nov. 14, 2023. Both suspects were booked into Santa Rita Jail on charges of attempted murder, discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle, and assault with a firearm.

A newborn made a grand entrance into the world on Interstate 80 with assistance from a CHP officer. CHP Officer Katharine Price helped guide a pregnant mother through labor March 2 while on the side of a major freeway in Sacramento.
