A Modesto man died as a result of a solo vehicle rollover south of Riverbank on Thursday evening, Aug. 1.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Eddie Dutra, 59, of Modesto.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Modesto Area office received a call of a traffic crash with an ambulance responding about 10:15 p.m. Thursday. The incident was reported on McGee Avenue north of Rice Road.

The CHP determined Dutra was driving a 2010 Chevrolet SUV southbound on McGee, north of Rice Road. For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet veered to the right and crashed into a dirt embankment and rolled over.

Dutra succumbed to his injuries at the scene; the CHP report indicates he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
