Monday, Sept. 11 will be the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Four planes were hijacked that day; two struck the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third struck the Pentagon and the fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania when passengers fought back against the hijackers and the plane went down, short of its intended target.

“The Modesto Fire Department, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District, and Turlock Fire Department (MST) invite the communities that we serve, to take part in an exclusive September 11th Memorial Ceremony in your community,” said Modesto Fire Department Deputy Chief Darin Jesberg.

Each ceremony will be open to the public and begin at their respective locations, simultaneously at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11. Ceremonies are scheduled at Station 1: 600 11th St., Modesto; Station 15: 2755 Third St., Ceres; Station 26: 3318 Topeka St., Riverbank; Station 29: 17700 Main St., Knights Ferry; Station 31: 540 E. Marshall St., Turlock.

“Please join us on September 11th at one of our fire stations,” added Jesberg.
