If you’re like most of us, you probably cherish your fur babies. Now, there is a new store that many pet owners will enjoy as it offers a host of treats for them. Pure Paws Biscuit Bar, located next to Wynfull + Wonder in downtown Oakdale, offers everything from nutritious snacks to apparel and has a wide selection for all animal lovers.
Owner Sara Bulygo started the business to provide snacks that were healthy and nutritious to pets after she had spent some time working with animals that had issues such as skin allergies and other illnesses related to their diets.
“I saw these dogs that had bad allergies and a lot of it was related to their food so I thought, why not create something better for them?” said Bulygo when launching her business.
Her creations are preservative free and she is working on a grain free line as well as gluten free to enable her to serve all sorts of fun-loving furry customers.
Starting out at local farmers markets and visiting community events to share her products, Bulygo has found a following. Many of the folks that have purchased her pet treats are now venturing to her brick-and-mortar location in Oakdale.
“We’ve had the folks from Roberts Ferry Gourmet stop in on Saturdays to enjoy our fresh baked goodies so I have really felt the support,” said Bulygo.
In addition to the furry friends that she has made along the way, Bulygo said that she has really appreciated all of the new friendships she has formed including with her colleague and fellow boutique owner, Adriana Alves, owner of Wynfull + Wonder. Alves noted how much joy it has brought her to know that she and other women like Bulygo have been able to launch their businesses and support each other every step of the way.
“The friendship and connection along with the flexibility to raise our families have been very helpful,” said Alves.
Pure Paws Biscuit Bar is located behind Wynfull + Wonder, at 132 N. Yosemite Ave., Oakdale; hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
