Recently, Oakdale Sunrise Rotary, affectionately known as the “Small but Mighty” Club, answered the call for donations from Oakdale Rescue Mission, ORM. They were requesting any type of winter clothing to provide to the local homeless, so that they could stay warm in the winter. Requested items ranged from flannels to jackets, thermal underwear and gloves, and anything else that might help.

Oakdale Sunrise Rotary Treasurer Bill Morris led the effort by serving as the collection point for clothing articles, and also worked with Oakdale Rescue Mission Executive Director Pamela Kelly to coordinate the time and date to deliver these items. Club Rotarians donated clothing, gloves, warm blankets, and also donated money towards the purchasing of more winter items that may be needed.

“It’s always good to be able to help out in the community; especially to those in great need,” stated Morris.

“We are so grateful for all the support given,” said Kelly on behalf of the ORM. “It’s such a tremendous blessing!”

“Although it is getting harder and harder to find ways to do things in the community due to COVID-19 protocols, we still strive to make an impact, and will continue to do so,” added Sunrise Rotary President Patrick Mondragon.

Items were presented to the Oakdale Rescue Mission by Oakdale Sunrise Rotary Members on Friday, Jan. 15.
