The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.
Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Sept. 14 through Monday, Sept. 20. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.
MONDAY, SEPT. 20
6 p.m. – Several engines were able to line the route for an Afghanistan war veteran who was being escorted to Lakewood cemetery.
7:47 p.m. – Modesto Engine 3, Battalion 1, Brush 1, Stanislaus Engine 21, Engine 23 and Water Tender 23 responded to a vegetation fire on Mariposa Road near Finch Road. Crews contained the fire to five acres.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 19
10:27 a.m. – Modesto Engine 7 and Squad 11 responded to the 5000 block of Suttermill Drive in Riverbank for the report of an adult in the swimming pool not responding. On scene it was determined that the subject was the victim of a drowning and had been in the pool for an extended period of time. Refer to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department for further information.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 18
10:50 p.m. – Engine 9, Truck 5, Stanislaus Engine 26 responded to a reported motor vehicle accident with a vehicle into a canal on McGee Avenue. Engine 9 arrived to find a single vehicle in the canal with multiple subjects in the water. Engine 9 and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies removed the subjects in the water. A total of three ambulances responded to the scene and two patients were transported from the scene to local emergency rooms with one patient in critical condition. CHP investigating.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 17
11:15 a.m. – Modesto Engine 28, Modesto Engine 27 and Stanislaus Battalion Chief 2 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Albers Road. Crews arrived to find a passenger vehicle vs. semi-truck with the occupant of the passenger vehicle trapped inside the vehicle. Crews extricated the patient from the vehicle and the patient was transported from the scene with major injuries to a local emergency room. CHP investigating.
1 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28 responded to a medical aid and landed an air-ambulance for a subject with a hand injury.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 14
Battalion Chief 5 began fuel mitigation project planning with Cal Fire TCU in Knights Ferry.
Engine 27, Engine 9 and Truck 5 conducted Engineer training at the Regional Fire Training Center.
Modesto Engine 28 assisted a citizen with gaining access into a locked vehicle
3:12 p.m. – Modesto Engine 27, Stanislaus Engine 23 and Battalion Chief 5 responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Claribel Road. Engine 27 arrived to find two vehicles involved and began to investigate for injuries. Crews found several minor injuries with CHP investigating.
5:09 p.m. – Brush 28, Grass/Water Tender 27, Grass 29, Stanislaus Engine/Water Tender 23, Stanislaus Brush 24 and Battalion Chief 5 were dispatched with Cal Fire Tuolumne Calaveras Unit to a vehicle accident with a vegetation fire on Dorsey Road near Woodward Reservoir. Crews arrived to find a vehicle into an electrical pole (non-injury) with a small roadside vegetation fire. The power was secured by PG&E and the fire was extinguished. CHP investigating.
