Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 9-11-24

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 9. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, SEPT. 9

Battalion 2: 6:50 p.m. – MST resources responded to a vegetation fire in the area of 9037 Dusty Lane. Four MST fire resources were committed to the incident for two hours. A total of 1.75 acres of vegetation were burned.

10:34 p.m. – Engine 26 responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Atchinson Street and First Street. Upon their arrival they found a one-acre fire and requested four additional MST resources.

Battalion 5: 10:34 p.m. – Stanislaus Grass 21, Modesto Grass 3, Modesto Engine 27, and BC5 responded to assist Battalion 2 with a vegetation fire in the area of Atchison and First streets in Riverbank.

 

SUNDAY, SEPT. 8

Battalion 2: Engine 26 trained in several areas during the shift including salvage.

3:06 p.m. – Engine 23, WR24, WR28, and BC2 responded to Modesto Reservoir for a drowning. MST resources began a search effort that evolved into a recovery operation by Sheriff’s Office divers.

Battalion 5: Two members of the Central Valley Incident Management team are assigned to the Line Incident in San Bernardino County to assist with the Plan Section.

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 7

Battalion 2: Stanislaus crews completed station maintenance today including apparatus floors and weight rooms.

Engine 26 conducted training in downtown Riverbank discussing forcible entry challenges.

Battalion 5: Engine 28 attended the opening ceremonies of Oakdale Youth Soccer Association.

Crews attended vehicle extrication training at Pick-n-Pull.

Battalion 5 personnel trained on new drafting equipment.

 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 6

Battalion 2: 9:21 a.m. – MST resources responded to a vegetation fire behind 800 S. McClure Street. Eleven fire resources were committed to the incident for five and half hours. A total of 4.6 acres of vegetation were burned.

Battalion 5: 7:29 a.m. – Engine 28, E27, E24 and BC5 were dispatched to a vehicle rollover on Claribel Road. Crews arrived to find a vehicle in an orchard with the patient standing out of the car with minor injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

 

THURSDAY, SEPT. 5

The Fire Chief and Deputy Chiefs conducted an MFD operational briefing over Teams.

Battalion 2: 5:56 p.m. – MST crews responded to three vegetation fires along Albers Road. The three fires combined burned approximately one acre.

6:37 p.m. – Brush 24 responded to a two-vehicle accident on Albers Road.

Battalion 5: 11:34 a.m. – Brush 28, G27, WT27, OES 4615 and BC5 along with Cal Fire were dispatched to bee boxes that caught on fire and started a vegetation fire on Sonora Road in east Stanislaus County. The fire was contained in about 15 minutes and was listed at 1.6 acres. Large swarms of bees made it challenging as several firefighters were stung during the containment.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 4

Modesto apparatus committee members met with Pierce Apparatus in Appleton, Wisconsin to work on apparatus builds.

Battalion 2: A staff meeting at HQ with chief officers and office staff was conducted at Station 26.

Battalion 5: 11:59 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28, Engine 29, and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident with injuries at Wamble Road and Fogarty Road. Engine 28 arrived on-scene with a solo vehicle into an almond orchard. Engine 28 and Engine 29 provided patient care to one patient with moderate injuries that was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. CHP is investigating the accident.

 

TUESDAY, SEPT. 3

Battalion 2: Crews rotated through Station 22 for an EMS protocol update; instruction was provided by Medic 1.
